I became Member of Parliament for South Derbyshire on May 1, 1997 and stood down when Parliament was dissolved on April 12, 2010. In that time I was contacted by more than 15,000 households (around one in four of those in the area). This website provides information on my work, both in and on behalf of the constituency.

December 18 - Mark invites pupils to try school dinners

Mark is hosting a school dinners' event at Hilton Primary School on January 19.

One of Mark's priorities for the next year is to encourage children to eat healthily. All school meals provided by Derbyshire County Council meet standards set by the Government in 2006.

The take-up rate for the county in 2006/07 was 46 per cent in primary schools. Mark would like to improve this rate in schools in his constituency.

The event, at Hilton Primary School , is an opportunity for parents to find out about school meals. Parents and children will be offered tasters of the menu and there will be a chance to ask questions.

Mark will also be on hand to discuss any issues about the constituency with parents.

Mark said: "Derbyshire offers high quality, good value school dinners and it’s no accident that the school chef of the year comes from South Derbyshire . I hope to meet plenty of parents and children at this event.”

The event will be held between 11am and midday on January 19. The event is open to parents of pupils or pre-schoolers in South Derbyshire but places must be booked.

Parents of pupils at Hilton Primary School will get invites via the school. Other parents are asked to phone Mark Todd's constituency office on 01283 551573 to book a place.
