Mark Todd

I became Member of Parliament for South Derbyshire on May 1, 1997 and stood down when Parliament was dissolved on April 12, 2010. In that time I was contacted by more than 15,000 households (around one in four of those in the area). This website provides information on my work, both in and on behalf of the constituency.

July 28 - Mark to show off baking skills

Mark is preparing to bake some home-made cakes for a family coffee morning.

Mark is urging parents of primary school children to attend the event later this year. The date and venue will be decided after consultation with the people who are interested in attending.

Several of Mark's priorities for the coming year are focused on children. He is encouraging pupils to opt for school dinners by organising taster events. Last year, these events were held at Hilton Primary School and Newhall Juniors in Swadlincote. Mark is also lobbying for the extension of the free fruit and Reading Recovery schemes.

He wants to discuss these issues with parents as well as talk about general issues that affect the families of young children. Places will be limited though if demand is high, more coffee mornings will be organised.

He said: "One of my lesser-known skills is cake-making. If people are prepared to take the risk they can sample my efforts and give me their thoughts on both these issues and others facing families now. Bearing in mind the emphasis on healthy-eating, I'll be both making fresh and managing portion sizes."

Anyone who is interested should contact the constituency office on 01283 551573 or markwtodd@btconnect.com.
