I became Member of Parliament for South Derbyshire on May 1, 1997 and stood down when Parliament was dissolved on April 12, 2010. In that time I was contacted by more than 15,000 households (around one in four of those in the area). This website provides information on my work, both in and on behalf of the constituency.

July 15 - Meeting organised for mobile home owners

Mark is to meet with residents of a South Derbyshire mobile home park on Friday (July 18) to discuss fuel poverty.

People living in the Ninelands Residential Park in Hartshorne and Lagoona Park in Overseal are invited to the meeting at Goseley Community Centre, Hartshill Road , Hartshorne between 11am and 1245pm

This meeting follows a similar one for residents of the Greenacre Park in Coton-in-the-Elms last year.

A representative from charity National Energy Action will be there to talk about new technology and other ways that can reduce energy costs. He will update residents on his organisation's campaign to get grants for these appliances.

For example, there are Air Source Heat Pumps that can apparently reduce heating costs by £25 per week in the winter months.

Mark said: "Mobile homes are often not particularly well-insulated and are occupied by people on relatively low incomes. With rising energy prices it's all the more important to heat them efficiently. I've already raised concerns about the options available in Parliament. National Energy Action have been looking for partners to make the case for extra help and new schemes. I hope we can make some progress on Friday."
